Alan is a senior practitioner based since 2006 on the Suffolk/Essex Border at Manningtree in Essex.
After an undergrad degree in Psychology in Scotland, and a period teaching English as a Foreign Language, Alan trained as an actor and mime artist in Wales and France. At the Ecole Jacques Lecog he first encountered The Feldenkrais Method®.
He completed his Feldenkrais training under the late Dr Mark Reese in Berlin in 2001. The training faculty also included Arlyn Zones, Dr Frank Wildman, Jeremy Krauss, Paul Newton, Francois Combeau, Ingrid Wilceck, Donna Ray, Livia Calice, Mara dell Pergola and Allison Rapp.
In parallel with a career as a performer, director, teacher of theatre and developer of arts educational projects, he has developed his work as a Feldenkrais practitioner, leading workshops and classes in the UK, Austria, Finland and India.
Between 2001 and 2011 he was a visiting Tutor in The Feldenkrais Method® at London Contemporary Dance School.
Between 2006 and 2012 he led annual open workshops at the Polish Institute for Choreotherapy. Since 2013 he has been visiting tutor in somatic practice for students undergoing a professional Choreotherapeutic training.
He is the originator of The BodyThink Process - developed in association with colleagues at the Polish Institute for Choreotherapy.
His research interests centre around the Primacy of Movement and exploring the relationship of somatic learning and artistic practice to general education, as well as particular explorations of insomnia, physical disability and the aging process. His secret research is on Silence.
He has been registered as a Feldenkrais Practitioner with the UK Feldenkrais Guild (FGUK). www.feldenkrais.co.uk since 2001.
